Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown recently signed a deal with Legendary Entertainment to star in a new film series based on Nancy Springer’s Enola Holmes young adult novel series, where she will play Enola Holmes, the fourteen-year-old sister of the infamous Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes. Brown already had a working relationship with Legendary after being featured in Godzilla: King of the Monsters (set to be released next year), but this is an even bigger step for the young actress’s career.

The Enola Holmes Mysteries follow the titular Enola as she solves her own mysteries that often overlap or collide with those of her older brother’s. The series began in 2006 with The Case of the Missing Marquess, which was nominated for an Edgar Award for Best Juvenile Mystery, when Enola’s mother goes missing and the young heroine sets off on a mission to find her. The series spanned six novels, and many characters from classic Sherlock Holmes novels appeared in one way or another.

This series will mark Brown’s first starring role in a major film franchise – her role in Godzilla, while major, is apparently not a starring role. And, much like Eleven, Enola is intelligent and fierce, and isn’t afraid to stand up to the adults who get in her way, which sounds like the perfect breakout film role for Brown.

Oh, and one more thing: she’s set to a be a producer on the film as well.

You go, girl.

The production schedule and director for the film have yet to be announced, but the prospect of a young female genius on film is exciting to say the least.
