Excited For Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Posted by

December is quickly approaching and I am getting excited. Sure, the holidays are great and Christmas and New Years are going to be awesome, but there is something else in December that has me excited. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to hit theaters on December 16th. With this new film quickly approaching, I decided to write about the some of the things I am excited to see in Rogue One. So, sit back and get ready for another list by yours truly, Slade 2.0!

ORIGINAL STORM TROOPERS

Rogue One

Every trilogy had their version of the Storm Trooper. From the prequel’s Clone Troopers to the sequel trilogy’s First Order Storm Troopers. All these troop costumes are great and have epic looking armor, but they pale in comparison to the OG of troopers.

Rogue One

Rogue One takes place months before the events of A New Hope, so it makes since that we return to the classic armor of the original trilogy. Fans of the franchise will go nuts seeing the Storm Troopers from their childhood back on the big screen again. At least, I know I will.

THE FORCE IS BACK

Rogue One

Remember when you watched the original trilogy and we learned that the Force was this mystical sort of magic that seemed like anybody could achieve it if they practiced it? In Episode 5, Yoda tells Luke “For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us.” Then the prequels came out and tried to explain the Force using science. Midiclorians, what were they thinking?

Since Rogue One takes place months before the events in A New Hope, that means it has been about 18 years since the fall of the Jedi. People either forget about the Force or start to hear rumors of it giving it that mystical vibe again. The Force will play a big part in this film given its setting. Getting back to the Force’s original concept is alone, one of the biggest things that has me excited to see this film.

DARTH VADER IS BACK

Rogue One

Speaking of the Force, did you see Vader in the trailer? Yes, Darth Vader will have a small, but important role in this new film. With the construction of the Empire’s new super weapon, it only makes sense to see him in this film since we know that is where he is stationed in A New Hope.

Rogue One

Will this be the great return of the Dark Lord of the Sith? Or, will this cameo amount to nothing more than a quick scene? One things for sure, gone are days of Fraken-Vader from Episode 3.

THE RETURN OF THE DEATH STAR

Rogue One

Remember that giant moon size battle station from A New Hope? You know the one. I believe the Empire referred to it as the Death Star. Well, it is back and it is the focus of the movie.

The opening crawl for A New Hope sums up the entire plot of Rogue One. The is a paragraph that reads: During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet.

Rogue One

The fact that we are going to see how the plans fell into Rebel hands is enough to kick my nostalgia into overdrive. We know that the Death Star becomes the ultimate battle station for the Empire and now we are going to see its origin story.

ROGUE ONE BACK TO STAR WARS

As you can tell, I am ready to transport myself back to that story that we fell in love with in 1977. I am ready to learn the details and back story of some of the biggest plot points from A New Hope. What are you excited to see in this new film?
