Tailored To Perfection: An Interview With Eothen Cosplay

Posted by

Happy cosplay Friday! This week Temple of Geek brings to you an interview with competitive cosplayer, Eothen Cosplay. Eothen grew up working within his aunt’s tailor shop, developing skills that would later come in handy in competitions. Today, he competes and has won numerous competitions. This, combined with his immaculate cosplay skills makes him an incredible feature for cosplay Friday!

JR:How long have you been cosplaying?
Eothen: I’ve been doing cosplay for 2 years in a continuous and competitive way.

JR:Do you cosplay or crossplay or both?
Eothen: Currently I only do cosplays and genderbent cosplays, the first crossplay that I will make will before the end of the year of Cinderella’s stepmother (Lady Tremáine).

JR:Most cosplayers consider there to be three main categories of cosplay, tv, movies, and video games. What do you consider yourself to specialize in?
Eothen: I do not consider myself a cosplayer dedicated especially to any of good categories since the 3 areas I love. But if I have to be honest, I love the world of Disney.

JR:Do you think cosplay is easier in a group or separate?
Eothen: I think that group cosplay, at least in a competitive way, is more complex than if you work alone. Although it is still my favorite choice, since it gives the opportunity to perform stage-goals more easily.

JR:As a competitive cosplayer, how do you think your views differ from a non-competitive cosplayer?
Eothen: I have no opinion, everyone is free to have fun doing what they want and how they want, as long as it does not harm or harm anyone else.

JR:What do you consider your most memorable cosplay to be?
Eothen: My cosplay of “The mask”, by Jim Carrey, is undoubtedly my most striking cosplays and it was loved by my audience.

JR:Do you think cosplay changing as you go to different locations?

Eothen: Of course, within my own country, there are areas in which the cosplay is more accepted and wanted in others. In addition, in each zone, depending on the climate, a different style of cosplay predominates (for example, in cold areas armor predominate).

JR:How do you think your skills as Computer Engineer and Web Designer help with your cosplaying abilities?
Eothen: As a web designer I do not have any knowledge or help to include it in my cosplays but as an IT Engineer I have learned the use of LEDs, electronics, circuits, arduinos and complex video editing programs to use them in my performances.

JR:If there was one animal you would compare yourself to what would it be and why.
Eothen: Possibly my profile as a cosplayer can be compared to that of a chameleon, depending on the cosplay I wear, my personality, my makeup, my appearance and my staging will be totally different.

JR:What was your first convention?
Expomanga 2 May 2016

JR:What was your last convention?
Heroes manga Comic Con 7-8 April 2018

JR:What is your next convention?
Cosplay World Master’s event, 25-26 May 2018

JR:What cosplays are you currently working on?
Eothen: I am working on the cosplay that I will use in the final of the Cosplay World Master in Portugal, next May 26, cosplay that currently according to the bases of the contest must be secret. So you’ll have to wait until the big final.
