For both Rudolph and Reale, the project offered more than just a typical horror script. Rudolph noted that the opportunity to film abroad was an immediate draw, mentioning that shooting in Bulgaria seemed like it would be a fun experience. She was also captivated by the film’s adventure spirit, describing the core plot as a journey involving a group of kids where the natural reaction was to simply jump in. Reale echoed this sentiment and enthusiastically debunked any rumors that filming in Bulgaria was a chore. She stated that the cast had the best time ever and emphasized that despite what others might hear about filming there, she loved the experience and found it amazing.

Redefining Fear on Set

The film’s plot delves into the heavy price of fame, but for the actresses, the fear on set was often a mix of intense acting and personal irony. Reale admitted that the project shifted her perspective on danger, explaining that she now has much more in-depth ideas about fear and risk because they had to face those emotions directly in several different scenes. One of the greatest challenges for Rudolph was actually acting terrified of their co-star, Javier Botet, who plays the film’s incredible monster. She laughed while explaining that being afraid of him was difficult because he is such a lovely, kind, and amazing human being in real life.
