Riftbound, the League of Legends trading card game, is about to launch its fifth set Radiance. With it comes a host of new cards and mechanics, and Temple of Geek is happy to exclusively reveal a new unit in the Mind Domain. Here’s The Empyrean, an eight-cost Dragon unit with eight Might. It’s a bit of a costly unit to get out, but the juice might be worth the squeeze thanks not only to its large body, but the new Show Off mechanic.

The Empyrean – Unit, Ionia, Dragon
- Show Off a card (As you play me, you may reveal a card from your hand or pick another friendly one.)
- When you play me, if you showed off a card, Predict equal to its Power cost, then draw 2. (Look at that many cards from your Main Deck. Recycle any of them and put the rest back in any order.)
When The Empyrean enters the game, you can trigger its Show Off ability. This allows you to reveal a card from your hand or one you already own in play. Each card with Show Off will have their own benefits, but The Empyrean is all about digging through your deck to find late-game answers to your opponent’s threats. If you Showed Off a card, you Predict equal to the revealed card’s Power cost, then draw two cards.
I can see this as highly-playable late game bomb in limited formats like sealed and draft, thanks to its own lack of a Power cost. Being able to draw into more threats and answers as early as turn four is valuable for keeping up with your opponent’s pace. In constructed, it may not quite have the same legs, but it’s hard to deny the draw power and the massive body behind this new Dragon unit.
Radiance is the final Riftbound expansion of 2026 and the TCG’s fifth overall. It features nine new playable Legends and is themed around music and performance. It launches with three new mechanics and dozens of new cards both for competitive players to tinker with and collectors to add to their binders.
Riftbound Radiance releases October 23 in stores worldwide.
