Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse: Temple of Geek Reviews

Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse is now in theaters and you should be more than excited about it. Meet Miles Morales, Brooklyn teenager who goes to the Visions Charter School and just wants to be a regular kid. He has an overprotective police officer father, an affectionate mother and a cool uncle who loves him. What else could go wrong? Well, of course, he gets bit by a radioactive spider and we’re off to the races!

This film looks absolutely beautiful. The colors and the atmosphere created by the artistic direction taken in this film makes it a joy to look at. There are many different easter eggs that can be found throughout the entire feature and there are many nods to fans of Spider-Men, both past, and present. Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse is an artistic genius to be adored by all eyes.

Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse features an amazing cast of characters and some surprises when it comes to that cast. Shameik Moore (Dope, The Get Down) stars as Spider-Man/Miles Morales. Joining him Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker/Spider-Man, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman, Nic Cage as Peter Parker/Spider-Noir, Kimiko Glenn as Peni Parker/SP//dr, and John Mulaney as Peter Porker/Spider-Ham. Chris Pine is also joining this cast as Peter Parker, the Spider-Man of Miles’ universe. Everyone gets some shine and no one is left behind in this large cast.

The main story revolves around Wilson Fisk trying to bend reality for some sinister reason and it’s up to the Spiders to stop him and restore reality to how it should be. It’s also about how Miles comes into his own and accepts the responsibility of becoming a being with great power. The story is great and the pacing is awesome. There is heart, soul, and redemption throughout the entire story and everyone can relate to all of these wonderful characters because that’s the magic of Spider-Man, we can all relate to him/her. Even Aunt May has a hilarious line in the movie that if you miss it, you’ll be angry at yourself.

Miles’s universe in Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse offers different interpretations of classic Spider-Man rogues. This breathes fresh life into things as this movie was destined to do. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this film. However, the only thing I can think of as a negative was that sometimes this film didn’t follow its own established rules, but that’s ok because it is a movie about a group of people who got powers from a radioactive spider, so hey!

So go round of your friends and family and head on down to see Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse, there’s something in it for everyone and it’s a lot of fun.

Stay Geeky.
