The Umbrella Academy is an American superhero television series based on the comic book series of the same name written by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. It was developed for Netflix by Steve Blackman. the show and the comics revolve around a dysfunctional family of adopted siblings who were all born on October 1, 1989, and with superpowers.
The siblings were born under extraordinary circumstances where forty-three women from around the world gave birth simultaneously, despite not having any sign of pregnancy until labor began. Eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves, was fascinated by this event and set out to adopted as many of these children as possible. He was able to adopt seven who he turned into a superhero team called “The Umbrella Academy.”
The Netflix series is currently in its second season and stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin H. Min as the Umbrella Academy siblings.
