Why did no one tell us their costume department slayed this hard?! The Queen’s Gambit – and the extraordinary Anya Taylor-Joy – have become a global phenomenon since launching on Netflix in October.

On Netflix,  a record-setting 62 million households chose to watch The Queen’s Gambit in its first 28 days. The Queen’s Gambit novel is now on The New York Times bestseller list – 37 years after its release. Google search queries for chess have doubled while searches for “how to play chess” have hit a nine-year peak. Inquiries for ‘chess sets’ on eBay are up 250% and Goliath Games says its chess sales have increased over 170%. The number of new players has increased fivefold on Chess.com.

Based on the novel by Walter Tevis, the Netflix limited series drama THE QUEEN’S GAMBIT is a coming-of-age story that explores the true cost of genius. Abandoned and entrusted to a Kentucky orphanage in the late 1950s, a young Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy) discovers an astonishing talent for chess while developing an addiction to tranquilizers provided by the state as a sedative for the children. Haunted by her personal demons and fueled by a cocktail of narcotics and obsession, Beth transforms into an impressively skilled and glamorous outcast while determined to conquer the traditional boundaries established in the male-dominated world of competitive chess.

Beth Harmon Outfits

We find the clothing worn on the show just as impressive as its global success. The vintage outfits worn by the main character, Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy), are absolutely dreamy! It’s like a ‘Dapper Day’ dream wardrobe. There are a lot more photos of Beth Harmon’s outfits because she’s the main character. But we try to include as many of the supporting casts’ outfits as we could.

Alma Wheatley is played by Marielle Heller. She is Beth Harmon’s adoptive mother.

Jolene Outfits

Most of Beth’s interactions with Jolene happen in flashbacks so there isn’t much when it comes to photos of Jolene’s outfits. Jolene is played at both ages by Moses Ingram.

Mrs. Deardorff Outfit

We didn’t see much of Mrs. Deardorff but the little saw of her outfits we liked! Mrs. Deardorff is played by Christane Seidel. She runs the orphanage that Beth was sent to after her mother’s death.
