Talking Stunt Work with Stunt Performer Lauren Mary Kim

There was a huge turnout at  Los Angeles Comic-Con this year. Held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the convention hosted many celebrity appearances and panels. Fans looked forward to photo ops, autographs, comic collecting, con exclusive shopping, and friendly gatherings. That same weekend, we spoke with stunt performer, Lauren Mary Kim.

Interview with Stunt Performer Lauren Mary Kim

Those familiar with her as a fan or in the industry may know her as the stunt double for actress Elodie Yung’s character, Elektra, from Marvel’s Daredevil, the former Netflix TV series. She also worked on the recent Ms. Marvel series from Marvel Studios as the stunt double for lead actress Iman Vellani as well as the stunt performer to play Ahsoka Tano (via motion capture) in the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

We talked briefly about her origin story of how she got into the industry and what it takes to become a stunt performer. She talked about working with Charlie Cox’s stunt double from Marvel’s Daredevil, Chris Brewster. Kim also discussed what it was like to perform those exciting and tense fight sequences with Star Wars’ own Ray Park, who played Darth Maul.

I don’t mind the change, and maybe we should get more recognition.

Kim has an extensive resume and body of work to her name. Among those are various TV shows and films, such as DC’s Titans, AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead, Alita: Battle Angel, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Fox’s The Cleaning Lady (who is led by lead actress Elodie Yung). She has also lent her talent to do stunt performances on numerous video games, including the popular Spider-Man and Spider-Man Miles Morales video games on the Playstation 4 and 5 consoles, Mortal Kombat 11 and Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
