Jujutsu Kaisen Cast Panel

On Saturday, April 22, cast members Kaiji Tang (Satoru Gojo), Lex Lang (Suguru Geto), Adam McArthur (Yuij Itadori), Anne Yatco (Nobara Kugisaki), David Vincent (Nanami Kento), and Michael Sorich (Jogo; season one director) gathered for a panel.

Moderator Mike Fallin started off the panel by asking Adam McArthur about why his character, Yuji Itadori, is such a relatable protagonist. Adam said:

He doesn’t have super selfish motives or anything like that. He’s not out there trying to do anything like be the strongest or whatever. He literally just wants everyone to be okay. And I think that’s really relatable. If you love your family or your friends, Yuji is relatable.

Gojo’s Teaching Method

Satoru Gojo is known as one of the most unpredictable and powerful characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. The moderator asked Kaiji Tang about what he believes makes Gojo a great sensei to his students. Kaiji said:

If you’re talking about “would a good teacher put your students in peril? Would a good teacher throw them at monsters?” I don’t know. It’s nice that he comes and saves them when they need saving. I’m not sure what Gojo’s academic lesson plan looks like. […]

I think he’d make a great PE teacher. I think he’d be the best PE teacher. But I don’t think I’d let him teach math to my children.

Suguru Geto: Friend or Foe?

Season 2 is set to premiere this July and will take audiences back in time to 2006, when Gojo and his best friend Suguru Geto were both students at Jujutsu High. Kaiji Tang and Lex Lang had some fun acting out a scene between the teen versions of their two characters addressing the running chicken shop joke.

In the Volume 0 movie, Geto is introduced as a threat to Gojo’s students. Lex Lang discussed how Geto is a compelling antagonist:

[Geto] is really committed to what his ideology is as a character. So if it means destroying everything around him, then that’s what makes him most dangerous.

The Many Woes of Nanami

Fan-favorite character, Nanami Kento, returned to the world of jujutsu sorcery after years of working a regular 9 to 5 office job. David Vincent talked about how Nanami views his return to Jujutsu Tech:

Nobara Kugisaki: Tough as Nails

Nobara Kugisaki is a fierce, driven, and self assured sorcerer. Anne Yatco discussed everything that makes Nobara such a strong character.

Nobara walks in knowing exactly who she is. She comes in fully fleshed out, and I love that she comes in like a force, like a hurricane.
