My Hero Academia: You’re Next is coming to North American theaters on October 11, 2024. The film follows the students of Hero Course Class 1-A of UA High School during the aftermath of the increase in villain activity. While going after a villain, they encounter a much more sinister threat: someone pretending to be Japan’s own, retired Number 1 Hero, All Might. Pro Hero Hawks joins the fight alongside the other adult heroes to help the students.
The last two seasons of My Hero Academia have been emotionally intense for every character in some capacity. Hawks is no exception. Zeno Robinson explains how the high-stakes of season seven impacted the way he portrayed Hawks:
Hawks’ voice often always changes with intensity. He’s often really, really cool and laid back. He doesn’t raise his voice until he does. So, I have to be really, really specific about when Hawks raises his voice because he almost never does. So this time around, the intensity, I had to learn over the course of the season how to perfect yelling as Hawks because he doesn’t do it…I’ll often be like, ‘Oh, I don’t think that yell sounds like him.’ I have to change it to make it sound more like him in my head. But it’s been a great exploration of his character with this much intensity, with this much stakes, and with this much on the line. And it’s cool to see what he does.
Also, Zeno is most looking forward to fans witnessing the epic animation. He says, “I’m looking forward to Studio Bones doing their thing and just like, animating the heck out of these fight scenes!”
About My Hero Academia
My Hero Academia is an anime and manga series created by Kohei Horikoshi. In this world, most people have “quirks,” or special powers. However, Izuku Midoriya (also known as Deku), the main character of the series, is born without a quirk. Japan’s Number 1 Hero, All Might, bestows his own quick upon Midoriya, which allows him to join a class of heroes-in-training at UA High School. The students of UA High School are training to be the next generation of heroes.
The manga recently finished as of this year, after ten years of publication in Shonen Jump. There are seven seasons of the anime and three films, with My Hero Academia: You’re Next being the fourth. Watch each season, streaming on Crunchyroll.
