On Thursday, HBO unveiled the official teaser for the highly anticipated new series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The reveal came during a packed panel on the Empire Stage at New York Comic Con (NYCC), thereby sending a wave of excitement through the dedicated fanbase. In an interview at the event, stars of the series, Dexter Sol Ansell and Peter Claffey, shared their favorite filming moments.

The new original half-hour drama series is based on the beloved “Tales of Dunk and Egg” novellas by George R.R. Martin and is set a century before the events of Game of Thrones. It follows the endearing adventures of an unlikely duo: a young, naive, but courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall (played by Peter Claffey), and his diminutive squire, Egg (played by Dexter Sol Ansell). Moreover, their journey takes place in an age when the Targaryen dynasty still reigns supreme and the memory of the last dragon remains fresh in living memory.
Muddy Tug-of-War
During a Q&A session with journalists, the series leads, Dexter Sol Ansell and Peter Claffey, were asked to share their favorite parts of filming. Their answers suggest that the new series will be as full of action and emotion as fans have come to expect from the franchise.
For Dexter Sol Ansell, who plays Egg, the highlight was an “unbelievable” tug-of-war scene. Ansell revealed that the sequence was particularly chaotic and fun, stating, “It was a real tug of war game. And then I was, like, going into the mud and I had to dangle on the string and then I got thrown up in the air and smashed my eye on your nose.” He even noted that the first day George R.R. Martin was on set was the day they filmed the muddy, free-for-all action.
Sentimental Horseback Riding
Meanwhile, for Peter Claffey’s character, Dunk, the highlight was a more sentimental and emotional scene that he couldn’t reveal too many details about. He hinted that the scene involved horseback riding and was a significant part of the audition process.
“It was very emotional,” Ansell chimed in, supporting his co-star.
Claffey explained that getting the scene done on film felt like a major milestone. “It marked the beginning of the preparation and actually getting the rope,” he said. “So to get that done in film was like… that really made it feel real.” The moment the director and showrunner told him they “got it” was a huge relief, with Claffey adding that the rest of the shooting felt like “a breeze after that.” Fans will now just have to wait and see what that significant, sentimental scene turns out to be when the series airs.
The series promises to chronicle the great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits that await the improbable and incomparable friends, Dunk and Egg.
The six-episode season debuts Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
