A Discussion With Graphic Novelist Ghezal Omar

Being a fangirl looks different to each person. In this episode, Ghezal Omar, author of Pimp Killer and .357 Magnum Opus, discusses the strong female representation in her works.

I typically like to write stories with characters that are very strong females who don’t take orders for men, who are going to take action themselves. […] And that’s reflected in all my stories. I felt [graphic novels] were a great format and genre for to do that.

About Our Guest

As stated in the biography on her website:

Ghezal Omar became the 1st Afghan-American graphic novelist in comic book history with .357 Magnum Opus, which depicts the dark entanglements of an unflinching female bounty hunter and the ties that bind her.

Continuing her dedication to redefining the female-driven action genre with stylish, adrenaline-fueled thrillers, Omar’s newest title, Pimp Killer, delves into the dark underbelly of a degenerate society.

Her works have already garnered interest from WME and Oxygen Network.

“I was determined to create a female heroine who was more than willing to serve her own brand of justice.”
