About Us

Temple of Geek is an entertainment website that covers a wide range of geek and pop culture news, events, movies, television shows, and more. What began as a podcast in 2012 has grown into a network of five podcasts, a news website, and a YouTube channel, all run by a group of passionate geeks.

  • Temple of Geek Podcast: This podcast has been enthusiastically exploring the world of geek culture since 2012! Join current rotating hosts, Alexandrea, Kari, Lacey, and Nick, along with other Temple of Geek Team members, on their weekly adventures discussing their passions and fandoms.   • Retro Rebel Podcast:  Hosts Amanda Rosowski and Stacy Bishop take a deep dive into the gaming industry each week. Specifically, they discuss news stories, current games they’re playing, and a weekly topic. To stay up-to-date with their latest discussions, follow them on Instagram @retrorebelpodcast.
  • Portrait of a Fangirl Podcast: Hosted by Jenna Wrenn, this podcast expands on the web series, emphasizing the importance of telling the stories of women empowered by fandom, particularly those of women who have transitioned from fans to working in their fandoms. Watch and listen to the series on the website and YouTube channel.
  • Temple of Geek’s Who Review:  Temple of Geek’s Who Review is a podcast dedicated to the British television series “Doctor Who.” Hosted by Elizabeth “Lady of Time Cosplay” and Nate “Doc In The Box,” the podcast covers a wide range of topics related to the show, including news, trivia, and deep dives. Additionally, the series features special guests from the Doctor Who community.

  • This Week In Geek:  In this weekly social media round-up, Kristen Chave, Corinna Beckman, and various members of the Temple of Geek Team cover all the latest happenings in geek and pop culture. Additionally, you can catch the round-up on all of their social media channels, including YouTube.

Alexandra is the current host and brainchild behind the CosLifeHAQ podcast. An engineer by day and a cosplayer in whatever free time she musters, she’s a transplant from North Carolina who, while still new, has thrown herself headfirst into the cosplay community. Her fandoms include Marvel, the Alien Anthology, and Disneyland. She usually can be found hiding from the sun in the Southern California pop culture and comic book convention scene.

Alexandrea is a photographer, writer, podcaster, and comic book historian based in Los Angeles. She is also an aspiring screenwriter and passionate about analyzing stories.  She serves as a staff writer for Temple of Geek and Sartorial Geek.

Amanda cut her teeth on her dad’s old Tandy before graduating from SNES and beyond. An accomplished guild leader in multiple titles and sucker for console RPGs; Amanda spends most of her free time with a bit of tech in her hands. With a life philosophy derived from a Spock quote and more passport stamps than shoes; she is a well-traveled nerd with the urge to pontificate.

When it comes to video games, Danreb is the guy. In addition to some of his work for us, Danreb is also the Executive Editor of SmashPad.com and is a rotating co-host of their Day 0 Update Podcast. He’s also worked at EA for 7 years as a Community Manager and when he’s not being the gamer he is, he also runs a fan club for Green Bay Packers fans living in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Host and executive producer of the Portrait of a Fangirl podcast, Jenna Wrenn, is also an entertainment correspondent for Temple of Geek. Jenna has conducted interviews with talent such as Katee Sackhoff, Felicia Day, Rachel Smythe, and Ashley Eckstein and has written several articles for Temple of Geek covering conventions, anime, pop culture, and much more. A historian by trade, a writer by passion, and a cat mom by birthright. Jenna loves to travel, forge new connections, and drink large cold brews.

Jose is a California native who has been in love with all things nerdy and geek culture since he was seven. He can spend all day talking about comics, movies, tv shows, and video games. You can also catch Jose going to all the pop culture conventions all around Southern California.

Josh LaCount is an actor, filmmaker, screenwriter, and musician. in 2017 he released his first short film entitled “All in a Day.” In 2018 he released his second short film, a period piece entitled “Midday at Morden Park.” Josh has also worked with producers such as Mikal Blue and Warren Huart as a musician, singer, and songwriter.

Julia Maldonado

Julia is a content writer for Temple of Geek’s Portrait of a Fangirl Podcast. She also loves to write about all things anime, cosplay, and conventions. While not writing or watching anime, you can find her sipping boba or playing volleyball (Haikyu!! anyone?).

Kurosh is a contributing writer for Temple of Geek on video games as well as host of The KJP Show on YouTube. He has been talking about video games in podcasts, videos, and articles for over 8 years. He covers all manner of video games and video game culture, and if it’s tactical RPGs, looter/shooters, and especially indie games, he is definitely there. When he’s not gaming, he’s at conventions, like Comic Con, WonderCon, and PAX, hosting panels about video games.

Lavender Vroman spent 15 years as an entertainment writer, editor, and film critic before launching her own website, nomansland.blog. Her graphic novel is due in 2024 from West Margin Press. She spends far too much time thinking about Star Wars. She is the producer for “Temple of Geek Chic”.

She’s also currently working on her debut nonfiction book, which is now on submission with her agent. She’s a passionate enthusiast of all things geek, with a particular fondness for sci-fi gems like Doctor Who, The Expanse, Star Wars, and Star Trek. As the creator of Portrait of a Fangirl, she has found that the Fangirl community is one of the most fulfilling aspects of fandom. She has been with Temple of Geek since 2017 and has led the team since 2020.
