Several talented actors have traversed the social whirlwinds of Regency London in Bridgerton and encountered the Doctor while traveling the universe in Doctor Who. Both shows are having their newest seasons debut this month.

Doctor Who returned to television on May 10th. Celebrating its new home for streaming outside the UK, it is now on Disney+. Bridgerton season 3, part 1, returns on May 16th to Netflix. Both shows have amassed a very devoted fanbase. It’s particularly a good month for those who are fans of both!

Actors who have been in both Doctor Who and Bridgerton.

  • Jonathan Bailey portrays the eldest Bridgerton sibling, Anthony, in Bridgerton. And previously guest-starred in a Doctor Who episode titled “Time Heist” as Psi.

  • Nicola Coughlan brings Penelope Featherington, the seemingly innocent gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, to life in Bridgerton. She’ll soon trade the ballroom for the TARDIS, joining the cast of Doctor Who.

  • Adjoa Andoh portrays the formidable Lady Danbury in Bridgerton. In Doctor Who, she played Francine Jones, the mother of the Doctor’s companion Martha Jones during David Tennant’s era.

  • Sabrina Bartlett captivated audiences as opera singer Siena Rosso in Bridgerton’s first season. Whovians might recognize her from her guest role as Maid Marian (credited as “Quayle’s Ward”) in the Doctor Who episode “Robot of Sherwood.

  • India Ria Amarteifio has appeared in both Bridgerton and Doctor Who, though her roles are on opposite ends of the social spectrum. In Bridgerton, she holds court as the titular character, Bridgerton: Queen Charlotte. Doctor Who fans might recognize Amarteifio from a smaller part in the episode The Magician’s Apprentice. She played Alison, a student at Coal Hill School in Clara Oswald’s English class.

  • Kathryn Drysdale played Bliss in the Doctor Who story “Love & Monsters”, voiced several characters for Big Finish Productions, and currently stars in Bridgerton as Genevieve Delacroix, dressmaker and confidant of Lady Whistledown.

Doctor Who’s new season landed on Disney+ on May 10th, while Bridgerton returns on Netflix on May 16th. Double the joy for dedicated viewers of both shows!
