Anime Expo took over the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California for four days of fun and celebration of Japanese pop culture. Cosplay is a big part of this convention, and cosplayers from all around the world. Here are photos from the Sk8 the Infinity cosplay meetup.
Sk8 the Infinity Meetup
Cosplay has grown in popularity over the years. Cosplayers draw inspiration from their favorite anime, movies, televisions shows, comics, video games, or other sources of pop culture, and represent their favorite characters through costumes. As with all anime conventions, cosplayers turned out in full force in Los Angeles for all four days of Anime Expo.
During the third day of the convention, fans hosted a meetup for those who were cosplaying characters from the anime Sk8 the Infinity. Here are photos from the meetup.
Sk8 the Infinity is an anime that follows a second-year high school student named Reki Kyan and his love for skateboarding. Reki meets Langa Hasegawa, a transfer student, and teaches him how much fun skateboarding is. They spend some of their evenings at a secret skateboard event called “S,” in an abandoned mine, where there are no rules.

Anime Expo was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 1-4 2023. The convention was started in 1991 as “Anime Con” by the members of UC Berkeley’s anime club, Cal Animage Alpha. Anime Expo boast an impressive lineup of manga creators, anime studios, vendors, artists, cosplay guests, voice actors, and more.
