AnimeNYC Bleach Cosplay Meetup

AnimeNYC celebrated its sixth year at the Javits Center from November 17-19, and provided attendees with guests, big name exhibitors, and a food hall offering delicious foods, such as bao, boba, and ramen. Temple of Geek attended the official AnimeNYC Bleach cosplay meetup on Saturday, November 18, 2023, the second day of the convention.

Bleach fans flocked to AnimeNYC to celebrate their love for this iconic series. Since the anime ended in 2014, there haven’t been huge gatherings for Bleach. However, with the return of the series, Thousand Year Blood War—which has two seasons now streaming on Hulu—its popularity surged again, and resulted in a pretty big meetup.

About Bleach

Bleach is a hit manga series from writer and artist, Tite Kubo. The original anime ran from 2004 to 2014, and returned in 2022 to complete the series. Bleach follows Ichigo Kurosaki, a young man who can see spirits. After a chance meeting with Soul Reaper, Rukia Kuchiki, he gains her powers and uses his newfound abilities to send ghosts to the Soul Society, exorcise evil spirits, and discover his inner strength.

The original Bleach series is available on Hulu, and the newest arc, Thousand Year Blood War is now streaming exclusively on the platform. The second season has concluded, and is expected to return for the third cour next year.
