“Behind the Attraction”- New Disney Parks Docu-Series Coming Soon!

Disney Parks fans and enthusiasts, your next binge watch is soon to appear on Disney+! Announced today, Disney will soon be releasing a 10-part series about some of the parks’ most loved attractions. Entitled “Behind the Attraction” all episodes will be streaming on July 16, 2021.

As part of Disney’s celebration of the release of the feature film “Jungle Cruise”, Dwayne Johnson is an Executive Producer. He will also appear in an episode featuring the attraction! Joining him is Brian Volk-Weiss as another Executive Producer and Director. Narration will be provided by Paget Brewster, also known by Disney fans as the voice of Della Duck!

Each episode will focus on a specific attraction or land found within the Disney Parks. In order, these will be: “Jungle Cruise”, “Haunted Mansion”, “Star Tours”, “The Twilight Zone Tower”, “The Castles”, “Disneyland Hotel”, “Space Mountain”, “it’s a small world”, “Trains, Trams, and Monorails”, and finally “Hall of Presidents”. Each episode will feature one ride, but other aspects and versions of the attractions will also be explored. For example, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ episode will also delve into how California Adventures’ version of the ride was transformed into Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! The Star Tours episode will also explore the land and attractions of Galaxy’s Edge.

In addition to new and archival footage and photographs of the development of these attractions, fans will also hear from legendary Disney Imagineers. These include Bob Weis, Jeanette Lomboy, Kim Irvine, Scott Trowbridge, Tom Fitzgerald, Scot Drake, Carmen Smith, Joe Rohde, and others along the way. Archived interviews with Walt Disney himself will also feature!

“Behind the Attraction” sounds like it is going to be a great follow-up to its fellow Disney Parks documentary series, “The Imagineering Story”. That series does take viewers through aspects of many of the featured attractions in “Behind the Attraction”. However, it will be wonderful to take an even deeper dive!

Some may worry about series such as this ruining “the magic” of the Disney Parks. But really it’s fun to see and hear how much work is put into these attractions. The history behind these rides is fascinating- often with unexpected hurdles or inspirations! I can’t wait to watch all 10 episodes as soon as they come out!
