Big Finish to Bring Together Entire Torchwood Cast for New Drama!

“Do you think you deserve the stars?”

Big news for Big Finish! The audio production company, known primarily for their Doctor Who audio plays, has announced that they are going to be releasing an all-new Torchwood drama.

The catch? This one will feature the entire original television cast!

Set to be released in April (with an exact release date to be announced later), Torchwood: Believe will pit the original Torchwood team – Jack, Gwen, Ianto, Tosh, and Owen – against the sinister Church of the Outsiders, who believe that “mankind is about to evolve, to reach out into the stars”.

Not much else is known about the plot of the audio drama at the moment, but the official Big Finish blurb on the series says that Owen Harper – played by Turn and Pacific Rim actor Burn Gorman – “believes that Torchwood has to do whatever it takes” to stop the church from completing their malevolent mission, which may imply that Owen will play a central part in the story.

Also featured in the returning cast are John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper, along with Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones and Naoko Mori as Toshiko Sato. Additionally, Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who’s Rory Williams) joins the cast as George Layton, the dark nemesis of Torchwood. The drama is set to be written by Guy Adams and directed by Scott Handcock.

Big Finish has produced Torchwood audio dramas before, but this will mark the first release by the company to feature the entire original cast of the television show, and also the first adventure in ten years to feature the entire original team since the end of the show’s second season. Producer James Goss said that entire cast is “tremendous, and tremendous fun to have in studio,” which promises something great in store for fans.

More details on the drama are set to be released in the coming weeks, but Torchwood: Believe is now available for preorder on the Big Finish website. For UK listeners, the drama costs £23 on CD, and £20 as a digital download. For American listeners, the preorder cost is $32.32 for Believe on CD, and $20 as a download.
