Blumhouse Games Reveals Slate of Upcoming Indie Horror Games

During Summer Game Fest, Blumhouse Games took the stage to announce their slate of six upcoming indie horror games.

During the Summer Game Fest live showcase at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, horror film veteran Jason Blum and Blumhouse Games creative lead Louise Blain took the stage to announce a slew of new indie horror titles, the studio’s first in a shift of focus onto the video game industry. Blumhouse Games will serve as publisher to various smaller development studios. Watch the full announcement below:

New publisher Blumhouse Games reveal their upcoming slate

The announced titles are all part of the horror genre, but cover a wide swath of video game genres. From a meta murder mystery, to retro-inspired psychological horror, and even a farming simulator, the first-time publisher’s roster of six upcoming games promises to deliver Blumhouse’s signature horror style, while scratching that indie game itch. Here are all the announced games:

Crisol: Theater of Idols

Crisol: Theater of Idols is a first-person horror shooter where the player must sacrifice their own blood in order to battle the looming, terrifying threats.

Developer: Vermila Studios

Fear the Spotlight

Announced as part of the Day of the DevsFear the Spotlight is a love letter to campy 90’s teen horror romps, where the players must do whatever they can to avoid the spotlight.

Developer: Cozy Game Pals

Grave Seasons

Part farming sim, part murder mystery, Grave Seasons is full awesome. Uncover the identity of the Ashenridge killer while tending to your crops and build relationships with other residents.

Still in early development, the creative duo of Sam Barlow (Her Story, IMMORTALITY) and Brandon Cronenberg (Possessor, Infinity Pool) come together for a game that is sure to be a gory good time.

Coined as “psychedelic horror”, SLEEP AWAKE is a first-person experience set in the far future, where people disappear in their sleep in the last known city on Earth.

The Simulation is a murder mystery with a meta twist — you play as a retired game designer hired to solve the case, and will gradually uncover more and more horrific games with details of the crimes.

Blumhouse is widely known for its horror films, producing popular films like M3GAN, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and Get Out.
