Bounding Guide: Star Wars

With Star Wars Day on the horizon, we’ve put together a bounding guide to help you dress like a few of your favorite characters from a galaxy far, far away.

What is Bounding?

“Bounding” originated in the Disney theme parks. Frequently referred to as “Disney-bounding,” it is a way to use fashion to create looks inspired by one’s favorite characters since visitors are not allowed to cosplay at Disney parks.

However, bounding is no longer something specific to Disney or their related parks. Many people take to social media to share their fandom inspired outfits, oftentimes participating in daily fashion “challenges.” Many convention-goers who do not want to cosplay will oftentimes character bound. The rise in popularity of bounding inspired many fashion designers to create character inspired articles of clothing that can be worn in a non-cosplay daily setting.

Ahsoka Tano Bounding Options

For an Ahsoka inspired outfit, including her trademark blue, white, and orange colors is a must. You can incorporate blue with jeans, or go with a more defined color shorts. For a pop of orange, a simple orange tee will be sure to stand out.

Besides the clothing, accessories are a must! If you are planning to wear an Ahsoka outfit to a theme park, Disney sells this adorable headband of Ahsoka’s montrals with Mickey ears. Lastly, you’ll want to make sure you have the perfect bag to represent Ahsoka. HerUniverse has many options, such as this cute and functional crossbody bag.

Princess Leia Bounding Options

Princess Leia has many looks throughout the course of the Star Wars series. Two of her most iconic outfits is her white robe and buns from Episode IV and her cold weather Hoth ensemble in Episode V. Creating an outfit based on these classic Princess Leia appearances can be done a few ways, depending on the person’s preference.

A comfortable and humidity-friendly option for the Episode IV outfit is a white sundress with a fun accent belt. And of course, don’t forget the space buns!

To create a Hoth inspired bound, white jeans, a white vest, and white shirt bring the whole look together. You can even add on a braided headband if you want!

Han Solo Bounding Options

You can’t have Princess Leia without Han Solo! Han has one of the most simplistic  looks to recreate for your bounding adventures. Personally, I pout together a Han Solo Disneybound for a trip to Disney World a few years ago, opting to wear a white henley, black vest, and brown crossbody bag. This is a comfortable and fun outfit to bring to Galaxy’s Edge!

Hera Syndulla Bounding Options

As the leader of the Ghost crew, Hera Syndulla is a fierce and loyal characters. Her color scheme of green and orange is a fun way to bring brightness to your wardrobe.

Hera wears a flight suit that can be recreated with a pair of orange overalls. Depending on the weather, you can opt for pant length overalls or shorts. If overalls aren’t your cup of tea, a pair of orange cargo pants and a brown bodysuit work just as well. You can even add a pair of flight goggles as a fun accessory.
