Building Your Own Themyscira: Connecting With Other Geeky Bosses

Many people may not be aware that Comic-Con is more than just panels about new movie announcements and shopping the massive exhibit hall. It is also a mecca of resources for people trying to build a geek business. If building a geek brand is something you’ve strived for, then the ‘Building Your Own Themyscira: Connecting With Other Geeky Bosses’ panel is something you definitely want to check out.
Comic-Con Panels aren’t something we usually get to enjoy at home. Due to the current global pandemic, Comic-Con International has made the decision to go online! Comic-Con @Home 2020 is currently happening and will go on until Sunday, July 26th. It will feature over 350 separate panels that will be available on the Comic-Con YouTube channel.

Building Your Own Themyscira: Connecting With Other Geeky Bosses’

On Friday, July 24th Jordan Dené Ellis (co-editor of The Sartorial Geek) hosted a round table discussion about best practices for networking and the importance of finding your community with Robyn Warren (owner, Geek Girl Strong), Matt Cox (playwright, Puffs and Kapow-i GoGo), Jazzlyn Stone (freelance comics marketer), and Rose Del Vecchio (co-owner, FanMail).

The panel starts off with the panelist sharing their stories of how they fell into their current careers in geek businesses. They go on to discuss how they built their communities and why those communities are so important. They also discuss how being stuck in a global pandemic has affected their business and what they did to adapt to a new way of life. For Geeky Bosses or any person who is trying to build a brand and find their audiences, it is intimidating to try to make a path for oneself in already established circles. This panel provides insight on how to make genuine connections.
