As the Jujutsu Kaisen anime prepares for its third season, which will cover the Culling Game arc, excitement and anticipation are at an all-time high. Temple of Geek sat down with the English voice cast Kaiji Tang (Satoru Gojo), Kayleigh McKee (Yuta Okkotsu), Anne Yatco (Nobara Kugisaki), and Adam McArthur (Yuji Itadori) to discuss the dramatic escalation of the series. As well as the emotional journey of the characters and the unique strengths of the anime medium, bring this complex story to life.

The cast was quick to point out that the series’ “normalcy” is long gone. Kaiji Tang, who voices the “God-like” Satoru Gojo, reflected on the rapid shift from the first season. “For fans of the first season, enjoy it because it’s the most normal the show and series ever gets. We saw an escalation in season two quite abruptly, right? And I feel like season three will continue that trend.” He teased the introduction of fan-favorite characters, which will further complicate the already intricate world of sorcery.

The conversation naturally turned to Yuji Itadori, whose ordeal in the Shibuya Incident Arc has profoundly changed him. When asked how he balances the character’s increasing strength with the removal of his innocence, Adam McArthur was firm in defending Yuji’s essential nature.
“I wouldn’t actually describe it as the light getting pulled from him,” McArthur said. “He’s just realizing what he has to do and what’s required… I do think, in some of the fights that we see in Season 3… that Yuji is still our good boy. He still is our little golden retriever, no matter how much bad stuff happens to him. And I think that’s what makes him such an amazing character, is that his soul is unbreakable.” The change isn’t a loss of light, but rather a maturation and acceptance of responsibility.
Kayleigh McKee also addressed the long-awaited return of Yuta Okkotsu post-Jujutsu Kaisen 0, noting his dramatic reappearance. Tang joked that Yuta is “the first one with the pizza walking into the room,” while McKee described it as a “community thing,” where Yuta returns to a world turned upside down.
