This week on Temple of Geek Chic we take a look at Kawaiian Pizza Apparel and their matching couples line of clothing. Kawaiian Pizza? I know! Super great name! Kawaiian Pizza Apparel is a screen printing and design business as well as a clothing line run by a husband and wife out of Northern California. Owner Alec Dale merged her love of Disney and graphic design and created her small business out of her home and became an Etsy success story. This week we looked at some of their casual cosplay outfits and put them to the geek test. We had real life cosplay couple, Katie and Dylan, test out a few of their Disney Bounding outfits.

What we love about it:

First and foremost is the absolute quality of the design. It is so well thought out and there is so much attention to detail. The design on dresses wraps around to the back as do some of the shirts. There is so much work that goes into giving these items texture. Everything lays on the body exactly where it would if this was an actual cosplay. I am especially impressed by the attention to detail on the Men’s HeiHei Moana Inspired Shirt. This design is printed using a sublimation printer, meaning the design is dyed into the fabric, making the design last longer than traditionally printed shirts. We also love that there are SO MANY designs. They come in sizes for adults and kids. And you have so many options for couple and family dress up! How does it feel?

The fabrics are soft and stretchy. They flow nice and are breathable. Although the thickness of the shirts can make it feel a little warm on a hot day. The materials used are soft and comfortable and easy to move in.

What is the print like?

The print is pretty great. The Rapunzel dress was a little lighter than what was shown on the website but still looks really great in person. This company strives to be as film-accurate as possible and they print using a sublimation printer, where the design is dyed into the fabric. You can take a look at the close up photos above to see just how much detail comes across.

Does it look good on different body types?

Absolutely. Just one look at their Instagram page and you can see the variety of different body shapes that these outfits look great on.  The skater dress is a pretty flattering design for most body shapes. Grabbing the right size is really the most important part about making these look good. The Skater Dresses are printed on a 90% polyester, 10% spandex. They come in sizes XS-5XL. Dresses fall 1-3 inches above the knee on most people. This fabric gives the dresses a lot of stretch but we recommend ordering bigger than your usual size. The spandex tends to cling to body, so unless you plan on wearing shape-wear underneath, I recommend wearing one or two sizes bigger than you usually wear. All three dresses that our model, Katie, wore in these photos were a different size. And they all still fit well. As long as you order bigger it will still hang nicely. Ordering too small, despite the garment’s ability to stretch, may not be as flattering. In the Men’s shirts they did seem to run true to size. The biggest difference we saw is in the length of the shirt. On the men’s athletic shirts, as with the skater dresses, the fabric will to cling to the body if too tight. So keep that in mind when ordering, as well as looking at the length of the shirt. Athletic men’s cut shirts tend to be shorter than regular men’s cut shirts. If you are taller, I recommend ordering a size larger than you usually wear.

Can you dress it up?

These are great for casual wear, cosplay and as costumes. These would make excellent Halloween Costumes. Can you just imagine family photos in these outfits?! Too cute!

Overall:

We love the comfort, the designs and the fact that this brand offers so many options in designs, sizes (5X for the win!), and that they offer their clothes for the entire family. Their wide range of selections include dresses, shirts, leggings, swimwear and even accessories.
