Chris and Rachel of The Nerd Lys join us to discuss basic con etiquette. Conventions can be overwhelming for new cosplayers and for new attendees who don’t cosplay. There are unspoken rules of conduct that someone who is new to the convention scene may not be aware of. In this episode, we try to discuss and help newcomers navigate their way through a convention.

Chris and Rachel are The Nerd Lys, a married couple who wanted to create a fun space for themselves to chat about the nerdy things they enjoy and share that with the community. They met at Arizona State University and have been together since our senior year of college. They began the podcast on February 14th, 2015, after Rachel took inspiration from her hero Kevin Smith to “just go for it and create something”. Rachel has been cosplaying under the moniker Lady Rae Gun since 2012, with characters like Quorra and Gem from Tron: Legacy, Red Sonja, Tank Girl, Holtzmann and Asajj Ventress. Chris followed shortly after, cosplaying as Russell from Up, Casey Jones and most notably Wong from Dr. Strange. Chris has been practicing cosplay and portrait photography since 2012 and just recently launched his photography page (OddlLy Captured).
Alexandra is the current host and brainchild behind the CosLifeHAQ podcast. An engineer by day and a cosplayer in whatever free time she musters, she’s a transplant from North Carolina that, while still new, has thrown herself headfirst into the cosplay community. Her fandoms include Marvel, the Alien Anthology, and Disneyland. She usually can be found hiding from the sun in the Southern California pop culture and comic book convention scene. You can check out some of her work here.
