With Doctor Who coming back in full swing in May, Temple of Geek hosted a Doctor Who cosplay meetup at WonderCon. We also connected with one of the cosplayers in attendance, who cosplayed “Lady TARDIS Pool” to discuss his journey through the universe of the fandom.
Doctor Who Cosplay Connection at WonderCon
Cosplay Connection is about discussing a cosplayer’s journey through cosplay. We asked Greg, also known as Skapool, about how he started cosplaying. He said:
“I love dressing up. I’m a ham. But, the first time I went to WonderCon, I just dressed up as whatever I had on me. But then after that, I wanted to do it more often. At some point, it started turning to like, Deadpool…Personally, I love entertaining.”
Also, we talked about how someone new to the Doctor Who fandom could begin cosplaying. His advice was to save money, first off. Most cosplayers will admit that the hobby can get expensive. On a more serious and encouraging note, he also said:
“Find a way to make it your own…because, yeah, I could get a pinstripe suit and do the Tenth Doctor. I could try to dress as Matt Smith, or Jodie Whittaker. But, for me, do what you know. Do what you do. Stand out! So yeah, my basic advice is: however you go about it, make sure it’s still you.”

WonderCon is held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California. Each year, cosplayers bring their A-game. From anime to Doctor Who, Marvel to a variety of mash-ups, WonderCon is always a treasure trove of incredible cosplays. Be sure to check out our cosplay galleries from each day of the convention.
