Cosplay Connection: Los Angeles Comic Con Part 2

We are back with part 2 of our Los Angeles Comic Con Cosplayer interviews for Temple Of Geek’s Cosplay Connection.

Temple of Geek Correspondent, Emily Schuck, talks with cosplayers about how to get started in cosplay, body positivity and gender bending cosplay!

Check out the video above to see our interviews with Cosplayers Rei.Kennex.Cosplay, JadeValkyrie, TheRaestew and Gundam Cosplayer Mark.

Take it slow. Be patient. Try to make sure you don’t go over the top. I’ve seen a lot of Gundam cosplayers go too hard into detail to where they make the scale completely wrong. Make the scale to your body, make sure you can walk in it. Make sure it’s not too hot. And make sure that if there is an emergency you can take it off on your own.

I love characters that are very strong and powerful. Especially when you’re looking for a feminine kind of role model its important to find that kind of thing about them. Zatanna has to grow into her own powers and really learn about herself. She’s kind of misunderstood and I love characters that are misunderstood! – Rachel, @theraestew

The most Important thing is to pick the character that inspires you. Because then you will have the motivation to start and to finish. And then plan the budget. Usually cosplays turns out to be very pricey or more than you initially expected. – Rei, @rei.kennex.cosplay

I feel like the most important part of cosplay is getting those key elements of a cosplay… as long as you have those key elements people will recognize you. They know its a cosplay. Its just your own twist on it.
