Critical Role Launches the Critical Role Foundation

Critical Role, the most popular story-driven world building RPG focused digital media company launched the Critical Role Foundation.  The foundation seeks to build deep relationships with other nonprofit organizations that support and align with Critical Role and its community.

The inaugural partnership with First Nations Development Institute aims to raise funds for its Native Youth and Culture Program.  In twenty-four hours the CRF has raised $98k.  The funding will serve the Zuni Pueblo and Cochiti Pueblo youth for the entire year.  The program will engage youth and elders.  It will seek to increase youth leadership through mentorship.  With access to cultural customs and beliefs as a means of restoring and preserving tribal language, arts, and history.

CRF’s Mission Statement

The CRF’s mission statement is to ‘leave the world better than we found it.’  Since its first campaign in 2015, the Critical Role community has raised well over half a million dollars for a wide variety of charities including 826LA, Red Nose Day, OSD, Pablove, and Out Right Action International.  The figure only includes traceable donations and not the donations the community has made in honor of Critical Role on their own.  10% of every dollar raised by the CRF will be allocated into an emergency fund.  This will allow the CRF to donate in the event of natural disasters or other unforeseen events that require immediate assistance.

Founding member, Ashley Johnson (Blindspot, The Last of Us: Part II, the Avengers) has been named the foundation’s president.  Executives, Matthew Mercer, Eduardo Lopez, Rachel Romero, and CRF founding partner Mark Koro serving as officers and board members.

The Critical Role Foundation is a 501(c (3) nonprofit organization with all donations 100% tax-deductible in the United States.

Critical Role’s Positive Impact and Growth

As a fan of Critical Role, its wonderful to watch the company continue to have a positive impact and grow.  Not only through the stories, they tell, but the work they do.

It’s fair to say this year has been filled with chaos; from the pandemic to natural disasters and back again.  With the formation of foundations such as the CRF, it’s a reminder that no matter how dark the days are ahead, slivers of light can be found if you just know where to look.
