Daleks versus Movellans versus Earth in new Big Finish Audio!

Doctor Who’s Intrusion Counter-Measures Group (ICMG) are back, solving mysteries involving paranormal, supernatural or alien phenomena; and now they’re in the middle of a war! Since the team’s first appearance in 1988’s “Remembrance of the Daleks,” the New Counter-Measures audio range continues the adventures of Professor Rachel Jensen (Pamela Salem), Group Captain Ian Gilmore (Simon Williams) and Allison Williams (Karen Gledhill) –now working for Sir Toby Kinsella (Hugh Ross) –as they battle threats to Britain in the 1960s, 1970s and beyond.

Arch-foe of the Intrusion Counter-Measures Group, Lady Suzanne Clare, who is a glamorous international arms dealer specializing in alien tech, is back. Apparently, she’s branched out. She’s now moved into technology and is rolling out a device designed to help out with chores around the house. As the launch date looms, Rachel Jensen and her team are determined to find out what she’s really up to and stop her. What do these devices actually do? What exactly is her latest plan? And what exactly does it all have to do with an insidious alien menace? It’s time for a home invasion.

The Dalek Gambit is by Roland Moore. After the Movellan attack, the New Counter Measures team discovers that key scientists who helped the Movellans are being murdered. Rachel Jensen realizes that the Daleks are behind it. Soon, the team finds themselves in the middle of a desperate war between Daleks and Movellans. As casualties mount, the Daleks plan to explode a bomb to wipe out the Movellans. Unfortunately, it will also destroy all life on Earth. Rachel finds herself struggling to diffuse the bomb as the clock ticks down. The stakes are high and this time not everyone will make it out alive..

Producer David Richardson said:

“The Counter-Measures range had ended: the standalone episode, The Hollow King, was the final episode. Or so we thought! There was such an outcry for more Counter-Measures, and ending on an excellent but not final-in-feeling story in The Hollow Kingfelt increasingly wrong.So we decided to have a ‘final’ reunion for Rachel, Allison, Gilmore and Toby back where it all began with the Daleks. And this time the Movellans are also in the mix, going out in style with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. But the story is paramount, and I think we should prepare to say goodbye here.”

Two simultaneous releases are out today that feature the team in combat with the Movellans and the Daleks, as an interplanetary war comes to Earth, and we bid farewell to the Counter-Measures for good.
