Disenchanted, a sequel to “Enchanted,” will stream exclusively on Disney+.

Among the news dropped by Disney was that "Disenchanted", a sequel to the hit film “Enchanted,” will stream exclusively on Disney+

Yesterday, the Walt Disney Company dropped an overwhelming amount of news! And in a year fraught with heartache and strife, this was the kind of news we needed. Among the news dropped was that Disenchanted, a sequel to the hit film Enchanted, will stream exclusively on Disney+.

Enchanted

Enchanted is a musical romantic comedy that starred Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Idina Menzel, and Susan Sarandon. The film was live action but it also had an animated aspect. The story starts off as an animated film, a young woman named Giselle is on her way to have her fairytale wedding and marry a prince. But she is cursed by an evil witch and sent to modern day New York City. The film is mostly live-action from this point on. The film is a beautiful love letter to the Disney fairytale animated films before it. It’s funny and calls all the fairy tale tropes and pits them against real life.

There wasn’t much information given during the announcement yesterday. We know that Amy Adams returns as Giselle, who found her life flipped upside down when she fell out of her animated fantasy world and discovered herself stuck in real-life Manhattan. So why is the new film called Disenchanted? Has she been living in Manhattan during the covid-19 pandemic? Is she stuck in quarantine with her family? But the other big question is when will we be able to stream Enchanted on Disney+? The film is not available on the streaming platform yet.

Investor Day Announcements

At the Investor’s Day event, it was announced that over the next few years, Disney+ plans to release approximately 10 Star Wars series and 10 Marvel series, as well as 15 Disney live-action, Disney Animation, and Pixar series, as well as 15 Disney live-action, Disney Animation, and Pixar features — all in addition to the premium content set to premiere in theatres or on linear channels before coming to the streaming service. We’re just happy that our favorite New Yorker is heading to Disney+ soon.
