Disney+ and Marvel have released their 2025 schedule! New and returning characters will hit the streaming service next year with a wide range of shows for almost all corners of the ever-expanding MCU. Let’s see what fans can look forward to!
Disney+ Marvel Releases in late 2024
Before we get in to Marvel’s Disney+ slate for 2025, though, there are two releases still to come this year: A highly anticipated movie and the third and final season for an animated show.
“Deadpool & Wolverine”
After recently celebrating the movie’s release on home media, the world’s #1 R-rated movie is headed to streaming. “Deadpool & Wolverine” will hit Disney+ on November 12th.
The infamous merc-with-a-mouth will be right at home among the other “Deadpool” and “X-Men” films now available on Disney’s streaming service. Various streaming agreements made before Disney bought Fox in 2019 have resulted in past films appearing and at times disappearing from Disney+. However, “Deadpool & Wolverine” should be here to stay!
“What If…?” Season 3
The third (and final) season of “What If…?” will premiere on December 22nd with new episodes premiering daily! Previously, Marvel released a clip of one of the episodes from season 3 featuring Bucky Barnes and a younger Red Guardian. In their recent “Look Ahead” sizzle reel, first looks were shown of Nick Fury and some Skrulls arriving to take care of business as well as some Dark Elves and a Captain America-styled Gundam-type robot. And… a cowboy Shang-Chi?
Disney+ Marvel 2025 Slate
Marvel has a packed slate in 2025! Six new Marvel shows will hit Disney+ next year. Let’s see what fans will finally get to see on their screens starting in just a few months!
“Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man”
The first of Disney+’s Marvel 2025 releases will be the new animated show “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man”. Originally “Spider-Man: Freshman Year” and a look at the MCU/Tom Holland’s Spider-Man origins, the show is now more of a “What If?” look at a younger Peter Parker’s life. There was some confusion after a panel featuring the show at SDCC 2022, but it was later clarified.
“Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” has already had a second season announced, but fans will get to watch season 1 soon! The show premieres January 29, 2025.
“Daredevil: Born Again”
Perhaps one of the most hotly anticipated Marvel shows for 2025 is the continuation of Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) story. “Daredevil”, first released in 2015 on Netflix, quickly became a fan-favorite and launched the “Defenders” series on the streaming service. And now, Daredevil’s story continues on Disney+.
“Daredevil: Born Again” stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio recently made a surprise appearance at NYCC 2024. And with them they brought “Born Again”‘s official release date: March 4, 2025.
The Disney+ Marvel 2025 sizzle reel provided the first extended public look at the show. This included first looks at the return of Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer), Fisk’s (D’Onofrio) wife, and Punisher (Jon Bernthal).
And, as announced at D23 earlier this year, production starts on season 2 of “Daredevil: Born Again” very soon!
“Ironheart”
First introduced in 2022’s” Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, Riri Williams’ (Dominique Thorne) story is set to continue in “Ironheart”. At the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23 earlier this year, the cast discussed the show. Riri has been expelled from MIT not only for skipping classes but also for using university resources without permission. But she’s still determined to build and perfect her own suit of armor.
The “Look Ahead” sizzle reel provided fans with the first look at Parker Robins AKA The Hood as played by Anthony Ramos (“Hamilton”, “In The Heights”) for the series. In the trailer, the Hood can be heard telling Riri “Anyone who’s ever accomplished anything iconic in life has had to do some questionable things to get it done.”
“Ironheart” comes to Disney+ on June 24, 2025.
“Eyes of Wakanda”
“Eyes of Wakanda”, a Marvel Animation show, was first officially announced in December 2023. The show will feature main-MCU-timeline stories from throughout Wakanda’s history. Specifically, the show will focus on Wakandans that have been tasked with returning precious (and dangerous!) vibranium artifacts to their country. As revealed at D23, the show will have four episodes.
“Eyes of Wakanda” will premiere August 6, 2025.
“Marvel Zombies”
After the very popular “What If…?” season 1 episode featuring a world affected by a zombie plague outbreak, Marvel announced “Marvel Zombies”. The mini-series will feature four episodes and continue the story started in “What If… Zombies?!”
Multiple MCU favorites will return in the series. Just in the recently released teaser alone, fans can spot Okoye, Blade, Yelena, and, of course, the zombie-fied Captain America.
“Marvel Zombies” will hit Disney+ just in time for spooky season next year- October 2025.
“Wonder Man”
Finally in 2025, Marvel Television will release “Wonder Man”. Not much is officially known about the plot of the series yet, but we do have some casting.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play the main character, Simon Williams aka Wonder Man. From the trailer, it would appear that Simon is auditioning for a movie role as Wonder Man before he gains his powers. Odd to think that in a universe with real super heroes that movies are still made of fictional ones!
Also, Ben Kingsley returns as Trevor Slattery. Slattery was previously seen in “Iron Man 3” posing as the leader of the Ten Rings and in “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” where he was imprisoned by the real leader and later escaped with the help of Shang-Chi.
According to IMDb’s series cast list, other regulars will include Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams (Simon’s brother) and Lauren Glazier and Byron Bowers in yet-to-be-named roles.
As reported by Deadline, “Wonder Man” will fall under the “Marvel Spotlight” banner. Like 2024’s “Echo“, this means the show will be a standalone series. No heavy knowledge of previous entries in the MCU will be strictly necessary to enjoy shows under that banner. Of course there are still ties to other projects- Daredevil shows up briefly in Echo and Kingpin is the main villain for example- but viewers don’t need to know specifics.
“Wonder Man” will premiere on Disney+ in December 2025.
What Else in 2025 for Marvel?
In addition to all of these shows on Disney+, Marvel also has several films coming out next year. “Captain America: Brave New World” releases February 14, 2025. “Thunderbolts*” is out May 2, 2025. “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will release on July 25, 2025.
This means that Marvel fans will have something new premiering in every month in 2025 with the exception of April, September, and November. Depending on exact dates and number of episodes, there’s the possibility of there being something every month, too!
Looking Even Further Ahead
At D23: The Ultimate Fan Event earlier this year, we did get a lot of looks and news about upcoming Marvel projects. However, everything at the Disney Entertainment Showcase for Marvel was all projects we already knew were coming. However, Disney is also hosting a D23 event in Brazil this year- November 8-10.
On the schedule for November 9th is a Disney Studios presentation featuring Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios, and Marvel Studios. Could new projects be announced at D23 Brazil? We’ll have to wait and find out!
For reference (to know when to be checking social media!), the panel featuring Marvel Studios will be Saturday, November 9th at 16:30 in São Paulo, Brazil. This translates to 2:30pm on the US’s east coast, and 11:30am on the west coast.
