WE HAVE SO MUCH LOVE FOR COSPLAY AND COSPLAYERS! It is hard to contain our excitement for the creativity that has come out of Anime Expo!
Anime Expo is the largest celebration of Japanese pop culture in North America! Anime Expo is a full 4 days in downtown LA on July 4-7, 2019, plus Pre-Show Night on July 3! Anime Expo encourages cosplay at their conventions and even states on their website that cosplay gatherings are a great chance to meet people from the same fandom and take some amazing photos together. All of the Cosplay Gatherings at AX are organized by attendees, primarily on the Anime Expo forum on Cosplay.com. They even have nine approved cosplay gathering locations for attendees to get together.
The term cosplay is a play on the words “Costume” and “Play”. It is a popular form of expression at most comic book conventions. Attendees dress up as their favorite characters from pop culture and attend the conventions in full dress up. Cosplay can consist of simple themed outfits, Halloween costumes, or elaborate homemade feats of ingenuity.
