Summer is usually when the biggest video game publishers and developers start showing off the goods. Kicking off this years summer announcement season is PlayStation State of Play. We last saw one of these digital events in January 2024, where they showed off extended gameplay for Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, a shadow drop of the experimental horror experience Silent Hill: The Short Message, and so much more. Fans have been eagerly awaiting some news from the Japanese console titan, but expectations have been managed since Sony confirmed there will be no big first-party releases until at least April 2025. Today’s showcase gave us a small taste of what’s to come, so here’s everything announced in the May 2024 State of Play!
That’s it! While we didn’t get any big first-party announcements (which was expected), many of these titles look fairly promising. Covering the back half of 2024 and into 2025, PS5 owners have a lot to look forward. We’re back to waiting on a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima now.
What was your favorite announcement from this PlayStation State of Play? Let us know on our socials, and be sure to hang around Temple of Geek in the coming weeks for coverage of all of the upcoming video game events. We’ll be at Summer Game Fest and Play Days, so expect tons of news!
