‘Funko Fusion’ Creatives Discuss the Game’s Epic Fandom Experience

Funko Fusion is the next exciting fandom experience in video games from 10:10 Games! Fans will have the chance to play over 60 characters from a variety of fandoms as they navigate the worlds of numerous franchises. At San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), the “Funko Fusion” panel provided con-goers with multiple trailers of gameplay as well as a glimpse into the storyline. Arthur Parsons (Co-Founder, Design Director, & Head of Publishing, 10:10 Games), Jason Bischoff (VP of Licensing & Business Development, Funko), and John Melchior (Universal) discuss the creation process of Funko Fusion.

Funko Fusion offers something for everyone! With over 20 fandoms represented and a plethora of Funko brand references, this game brings fans and enthusiasts together in an action-adventure game like no other. Freddy Funko, the brand mascot, is the central character in the game. Not only will players be able to explore multiple universes, but they will also explore the lore that makes Freddy so iconic.

During the “Funko Fusion” panel, Arthur Parsons let fans know that the team behind this game are new to the video game market. During the interview, he says:

That’s something that’s dear to my heart…I’ve seen how hard it is to get into the industry. And now, obviously, we now have kids that go and study at colleges and then universities to get into games. But, there’s no doors open to them. Like, there are no junior-level roles.

Parsons goes on to say that there is a senior team. However, right from the get-go, as they were building the studio, they wanted to be the ones to open those doors. For a lot of staff on Funko Fusion, this is their first game.

Furthermore, Jason Bischoff agrees with Parsons. Bischoff says, “It’s impossible to get experience to land a job. And it’s impossible to get the job to land experience.” The team was more than willing to take a chance on newcomers. He goes on to say:

We feel the very similarly on the Funko side. It’s one of the things we love and treasure about the relationship with the 10:10 Games team. They are being mindful about what’s going into the product. But more specifically, how they are making that product.

John Melchior agrees with both Parsons and Bischoff. Melchior mentions that “the industry we work in can be exclusionary at times. So, working with a team that’s inclusionary is like a breath of fresh air.”
