Ghosts of Ruin is a new animated series from Gala Films. It takes place in a dystopian future where a new technology, Neural Reality, allows players of the Tournament of Ruin to become completely immersed in the game. However, players begin to forget the difference between reality and the game.

We spoke with PJ Accetturo, co-creator of Ghosts of Ruin. This series brings in the community involvement of fans throughout the creation process. We asked PJ what inspired him to create a show with this level of community. He said:

“Thirty years from now, video games are going to be indistinguishable from reality. So, really exploring: what’s the PTSD ramifications for that when it happens? And that really adds, I think, a lot of substance to the show that’s really fun to explore. But at the end of the day, it’s about YoutTubers, it’s about gamers, it’s about anime fans, and that’s what we’re all about here.”

Also, we spoke with Michael Ryan, the show-runner. We asked if he hopes this series becomes a “cult classic” like the shows he has done in the past. He said:

“Oh, very much so… We’re making it for the fans, so we really want that kind of, like, that kind of energy. A cult classic of people to watch this and go, ‘Oh, I love this!’ You know, ‘I need this!'”

Join the Ghosts of Ruin community to get involved in production, such as choosing lines that go into the show and having your face animated on a dead body. Fans can catch the series on Gala Games platforms soon!

Ghosts of Ruin is a series that takes place in a dystopian future where video games sync directly with the minds of people and are indistinguishable from reality. The futuristic sci-fi animated series features lead Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), K-Pop star AleXa, Josh Keaton (Spectacular Spider-man), Karen Strassman (Sonic the Hedgehog series), and John Bentley (Alpha and Omega) and follows a group of gamers as they navigate this mind-bending world.
