Halloween Costume and Cosplay Ideas: Squid Game

Squid Game has been popping up all over social media ever since it dropped on Netflix. In Squid Game, 456 desperate contestants compete with each other in a mysterious and deadly survival games involving multiple rounds of childhood games to win 45.6 billion in prize money that can pull them out of their misery.

A mysterious invitation to join the game is sent to people at risk and are in dire need of money. The 456 participants from all walks of life are then locked into a secret location. Every game is a Korean traditional children’s game such as Red Light, Green Light. However, the consequence of losing is death.

Squid Game Masks

Squid Game makes having a recognizable costume pretty easy. The players wear green tracksuits. The people enforcing the games wear pink jumpsuits and mesh black masks with a shape on them.

Squid Game Green Track Suits

The contestants wear green track suits with white coloring blocking. A quick google search will give you a variety of tracksuit options. I think anything green, even if all it has is a white stripe, would work. I also think any white shoe or plain white canvas shoe will work.

There is a patch on the jacket that has their contestant number. It is also seen on the back of the jacket with a larger patch. Check out the reference photo gallery at the bottom of this article for more photos. If you don’t want to make a patch, then you could always draw a number on it with a fabric paint pen.

Underneath the jacket and seen often is a white ringer tee shirt or possibly a baseball tee. This has their contestant number written on it in black letters. The T-shirt is something you could probably make with a plain white tee shirt at home. Use a fabric pen or fabric paint and draw a black ring around the collar along with the number to match the one on your tracksuit.

Squid Game Pink Jump Suit

These jumpsuits will be a little harder to do. There are some links on Amazon and other sites that offer these cosplays. However, the majority of them sell red jumpsuits and this is definitely more of pink color. The bottom of the jumpsuit resembles cargo pants and the top has an attached hoodie with pockets on the chest. I think the color we are looking for here is probably closer to a hot pink or a magenta. A matching hoodie and sweat pants combo, along with the mask, is probably enough to make you recognizable. There are some hot pink coveralls available, but many don’t have hoods. You could try dying white coveralls a hot pink. If you go that route, then make sure to buy the right kind of fabric dye. Not all fabric dyes work on all materials.
