How Los Angeles Comic Con Happens – With Chris DeMoulin

Chris DeMoulin was kind enough to sit down with us again this year to discuss the inner workings of Los Angeles Comic con and why what they do is so important. From having something for everyone, to making fun experiences affordable, DeMoulin and the rest of the LACC team work very hard all year to give LA residents a good comic convention experience. 

We asked Chris how he and the rest of the LACC team come up with such great lineups year after year and the answer is pretty simple, though not easy. There are about 10 people that work year round to make LACC happen and they work off of three principles to give attendees everything they could possibly ask for. 

Something Old

The LACC team knows what the big draws are; they want you to be able to experience and enjoy the fandoms that you grew up with no matter what age you are. Lord of the Rings, Power Rangers, Spongebob…from voice acting to major franchises, Los Angeles Comic Con has you covered. 

Something New

It is important to Chris DeMoulin that this is a weekend that you can share with your kids, noting it’s also important to create an environment for new fans as well. The inclusion of The Boys, House of the Dragon and others helps foster an environment where parents can pass fandoms to the next generation and new fans can geek out with the rest of us.

 

 

Uniquely LA

LACC is something that feels (and should feel) unique to the area that created it. LACC is more than just nerds and fandom. The attendance of the LA Public Library, and LAFC brings the community to the con. 

The team that puts this convention together works extremely hard to make this event accessible for everyone. Not only do they do everything they can to keep prices down but they also never sell out. If you want to just show up today or tomorrow you can! That is something that very few comic book conventions can boast about. And yes, they are already working on next year’s con!
