How to Unlock Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World

Mario Kart World” is overflowing with things to do right out of the gate, whether it’s playing with friends online, tackling Grand Prix races, or tracking down P-Switch challenges and Peach Medallions scattered around the open world in Free Roam. It’s a veritable smorgasbord of karting delight for Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s even hiding a pretty big secret. It may just take doing some of those challenges and more to unlock it, though. Yep, we’re talking about the fan-favorite Mirror Mode.

If you’ve played a Mario Kart game in the past, you may be familiar with Mirror Mode. By selecting this mode when choosing a race or tournament, you’ll be able to do exactly what it sounds like, which is race on a mirrored version of the tracks. Better yet, it works in both Grand Prix and VS mode online, so you can tackle these reversed tracks solo or with some brave friends!

If that sounds up your alley, be prepared to put in a bit of work. Unlocking Mirror Mode in “Mario Kart World” will take a bit of effort. Here’s how to make it happen.

How to unlock mirror mode in Mario Kart World

To unlock Mirror Mode in “Mario Kart World”, you’ll need to take on a variety of tasks in the game’s Free Roam mode, as well as finish all of the cups in both Grand Prix and Knockout Tour in 150cc. It’s quite an undertaking, but much of it is likely to come naturally over time for many players.

While you can’t track the locations of P-Switch challenges or Peach Medallions, you can see how many of each of them you’ve found by opening your map and glancing at the bottom left corner.

With that out of the way, let’s dive into what you’ll need to accomplish:

  • Collect 10 Question Mark Panels
  • Collect 10 Peach Medallions
  • Complete 10 P-Switch Challenges
  • Complete every Grand Prix Cup in 150cc (placement doesn’t matter)
  • Complete every Knockout Tour Rally in 150cc (placement doesn’t matter)
  • Complete the Special Cup in 150cc (placement doesn’t matter)

By completing all of the above tasks, you should find that Mirror Mode unlocks for you. If you’re in Grand Prix, you’ll now be able to select it on the class option screen where you’d normally choose 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc. If you feel like giving it a go, make your selection and get to riding. We believe in you!
