Katsuhito Akiyama, the executive director of Beyblade X, was recently interviewed at Anime Expo, North America’s largest anime convention. Akiyama expressed his excitement for fans to experience the new Beyblade series and reflected on his involvement with a franchise that has been beloved for over 20 years.

Having worked on the Beyblade series for 8 to 9 years, Akiyama emphasized the importance of creating something that children can cherish and enjoy. Furthermore, he also highlighted the significance of developing a series that can be appreciated by multiple generations. Through his English translator, he stated, “It’s important for me to create something that kids can love and enjoy. That’s very important to me, and it makes me very happy to create such work. … It’s very important to be happy to be involved in something that’s loved for such a long period of time.”
In addition, regarding the differences between Beyblade Burst and Beyblade X, Akiyama mentioned that the characters in Beyblade X are slightly older. This decision was made to accommodate the many fans who have grown up since watching Beyblade Burst, ensuring they can continue to connect with the series.
Finally, Akiyama concluded the interview by expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to work on a project that resonates with so many people.
Beyblade X at Anime Expo 2024
Anime Expo descended upon Downtown Los Angeles from July 4th to 7th, 2024, transforming it into a vibrant celebration of Japanese pop culture. Attendees reveled in a world overflowing with anime, manga, video games, music, and fashion. AX ignited imaginations with a diverse array of activities, from insightful panels and workshops to energetic concerts and captivating cosplay competitions. Enthusiasts eagerly met industry guests and explored the vast Exhibit Hall brimming with merchandise and art.
Meanwhile, at the BEYBLADE X booth, attendees discovered the new Xtreme Battle Set, along with the latest dual packs, single packs, and starter packs available at major retailers. Daily tournaments from July 4th-6th gave competitors the chance to win prizes and swag bags. Some even tested their skills against a master Blader from Japan in exhibition matches, receiving a stadium for their participation.
In addition, an exclusive influencer preview on July 4th, featured special guest Blader Ken, a master Blader from Japan. The event gave many their first glimpse of the XR stadium, previously exclusive to Japan. Attendees also eagerly collected the latest BEYBLADE X toys, including potential Japan-exclusive items.
Furthermore, the BEYBLADE X panel, held on July 6th marked a high point. Animation Director Mr. Akiyama and Blader Ken hosted exclusive screenings of the first episode of BEYBLADE X Season 1. The first 100 attendees snagged the Xtreme Battle set. Thetrivia whizzes walked away with exclusive key frame arts and products. Mr. Akiyama captivated the crowd, sharing insights into the development of the series and the inner workings of the animation world.
