[Interview] Shelly Westerman, Editor of ‘Only Murders in the Building’ at SDCC

San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) took over the San Diego Convention Center and Gaslamp District from July 25-28th. This convention ignites with panels and presentations across multiple genres of fandom. Attendees hear directly from the actors, creators, and industry titans themselves as they reveal behind-the-scenes magic. Among these panels was Impact24 PR’s “Fan Favorites: Behind The Scenes of Popular Film and TV Shows.” This panel provides the audience with an opportunity to see how projects such as One Piece, Gen V, and Only Murders in the Building come to life. We spoke with Shelly* Westerman, editor and co-producer on the series Only Murders in the Building.

Interview with Shelly Westerman

Shelly Westerman is both an editor and producer for Only Murders in the Building. She talks about having nothing but great experiences while working with the team on this show.

Westerman joined the team during season two as an editor. Now, she is both an editor and a co-producer. “Our showrunner, John Hoffman, is extraordinary. Our team is extraordinary,” she gushes, “We collaborate, we have fun…really fun, fun shows are hard to come by sometimes.”

Also, being an editor and co-producer allows Westerman to offer unique perspectives on both sides. She says:

I’m a little bit involved in knowing what’s happening in all the episodes and kind of working with our sound department and music department in a slightly different way. So, I think it helps inform kind of how I feel about the whole show. And then, I do like helping guide other editors and making sure we’re all included in meetings and knowing what’s going on.
