Is this the real Joker?

Recently, a photo was released of Jared Leto in full makeup for The Joker in the film Suicide Squad. It was confirmed by the director David Ayer, that this is in fact the Clown Prince of Crime.

I don’t know what to say about this. On one hand, it is a completely different take on the character, a far departure from what Burton and Nolan had brought previously to movie goers years ago. On the other hand, I don’t believe for one bit this is the final version of the Joker.

This picture of a character that has tats on his arms and chest, the word damaged on his forehead, and a grill is in no way the final product. I am quite sure that most of this was Photo-shopped to celebrate the character’s birthday. Everything on his body is telling a story about the character.

  • Lets start with the word “damaged” on his forehead. This is represents that the character is not afraid to show his true self. He is a weapon that will go off at a moments notice. Everything he does he does out of pure enjoyment of chaos.
  • The grill tells the story of how he has come to blows with the Batman. Batman will inflict bodily harm on the Joker but will never cross that line. I like to think that the silver teeth are caps that had to be inserted in his mouth due to the damage that was caused by fighting Batman.
  • The tattoos tell the story of his mental state. He sees himself as the jester of death and finds everything humorous. This is a character that will play games with lives of the innocent to put a smile on his face.

I believe that this is what the Joker will look like on film, minus all the tats an silver teeth. I truly believe that DC and Warner Bros. will do the character justice. This picture was just released to get fans talking.

Did it work? Are you talking about it? Do you agree with my description of this picture? Sound off below.
