J Michael Straczynski Interview | Babylon 5 at SDCC

Babylon 5 fans at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) were given the opportunity to watch an exclusive screening of the next installment in the cult-classic sci-fi series. Babylon 5: The Road Home is an animated film that picks up where the series left off. We spoke with the creator of Babylon 5, J Michael Straczynski about the upcoming Warner Bros. Entertainment film.

J Michael Straczynski Babylon 5: The Road Home Interview

J Michael is the creator of the cult-classic sci-fi series, Babylon 5. The series ran from 1993-1995 and had five seasons. Each season explored one year of the lives of the characters aboard the space station. Now, almost thirty years later, fans are going to be able to enjoy the continuation of the story on the screen once again.

We asked J Michael how it feels to see the series back on the screen. He said:

“Oh, it’s been great. Warner Bros. realized that we’re coming up on the 30th anniversary of the show and wanted to do a tribute to the show and to the fans. Basically, a love letter to the fans. And, to go back and play in that universe again for the first time in a long while has just been an awful lot of fun.”

Also, we asked about the process of getting voice actors on board for this project. J Michael explained:

“They understood what they were getting into. We looked for the actors who wouldn’t necessarily be trying to do an imitation but just capturing the essence of it. And they all understood the magnitude of the legacy they were being asked to carry forward. So, they really brought their A-games.”

Fans will be able to watch this film on Digital, 4K UHD, and Blu-ray on August 15, 2023. Not only that, but the Complete Series will also be available on Blu-ray on December 5th, just in time for the holidays.
