Two-time Oscar-winning composer James Horner has died in a plane crash at the age of 61, according to multiple reports. It was learned that he was flying one of his small aircrafts when it crashed north of Santa Barbara.
Horner was best known for composing the score for James Cameron’s Titanic. He also composed scores for Cameron’s Avatar, Amazing Spider-Man in 2012, Braveheart, Apollo 13, and American Tail to name a few.
His last films will be Antoine Fuqua’s boxing drama Southpaw, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, and the Chilean miner film The 33.
We here at the Temple of Geek send out our condolences to Mr. Horner’s family. We lost one of the greatest composers of the 21st Century.
