First, we had the NES classic, then the SNES Classic, then all sorts of classic systems like the Playstation Classic, Commodore 64 Mini, Neo Geo Mini, and the Sega Genisis classic. Now, there is a new retro mini-game system heading your way. Konami is hoping you still are feeling nostalgic because they are bringing you the TurboGrafx-16 Mini on March 19th 2020!
This system will be a faithfully scaled-down version of the original TurboGrafx-16 design, right down to the smallest detail. The controllers are still their original size, allowing for exactly the same gameplay experience!
The system will feature 50 games in total. 24 of those games will be games that were released in North America for TurboGrafx-16 while the other 26 games will be Japanese games that were released for PC Engine (The Japan equivalent of TurboGrafx-16). Thos games are:
TurboGrafx-16 Games (English)
PC Engine Games
While highly unlikely, it has not been confirmed yet if any of the Japanese games will be translated to English when this system is released. It’s also worth pointing out that some of these titles were exclusive originally to the system’s CD add-on attachment. Most of these titles are rare to come by today, so it is really awesome to see some of these titles included in this set.
The console features a Quick Save function that allows you to save at any point during a game. This feature is becoming a must for all classics consoles.
The console will be ready to plug and play using an HDMI cable, it will also feature different modes that let you choose how your games look, such as by replicating the scanlines on a CRT TV. The video output will be 720p/480p depending on how you want your games to look while displayed.
For those multiplay games, you will be able to purchase a multitap and connect additional controllers, up to five people can play together simultaneously.
The set will include a single exclusive controller with turbo controls, 1 USB cable, 1 HDMI cable, and an instruction manual. Additional controllers, AC adapter, and multitap are sold separately.
The console will be available exclusively on Amazon from March 19th 2020, with an Amazon Prime exclusive pre-order period starting from July 15th.
