“Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Showrunners Sign 3-Year Deal

Prime Video has released some amazing original content, but one of the most popular is The Lord of the Rings prequel Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Showrunners Patrick McKay and JD Payne just signed a 3-year deal with Amazon MGM Studios.

There is no release date for the second season of The Rings of Power at this time.  The show remains Prime Video’s most-watched original show. There has only been speculation among fans about what might be covered in season two. Not much information has been released. Leaving questions about whether or not we will get a season three, well we have some answers. But now we at least know that a third season is coming. 

The Rings of Power’s Showrunners Sign 3-Year Deal

According to showrunners, Patrick McKay and JD Payne, they have just signed a three-year deal with Amazon MGM Studios. The new deal allows them to hold on to their own production company, 10:40 PM Productions. For fans, this means that we will be getting more Rings of Power. Although the writer’s room for season three hasn’t yet been staffed, our showrunners are hard at work breaking into the storyline.

Head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, Vernon Sanders had this to say about working with The Rings of Power duo; “We continue to be amazed by the scope and scale of their vision and the enormous global success achieved by The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in its record-breaking first season. We can’t wait for Prime Video customers to experience the epic adventure and high-stakes drama that JD and Patrick are continuing to build throughout season two and beyond. Naturally, the studio is thrilled to extend our overall deal with these brilliant creative minds as they continue to deliver on their passion for great storytelling.”

This new deal could mean great things for the future of the show. Season three of Industry is moving to a new production facility near Shepperton Studios in the UK, further fueling the excitement for season two’s release.
