Magic: The Gathering 2026 release lineup.

Magic: The Gathering 2026 Release Lineup Revealed

During MagicCon Atlanta, Wizards of the Coast announced their main set release lineup for 2026. We’re getting seven main sets, which the team has confirmed is a scheduling fluke that isn’t the norm going forward. Three of these are in-universe sets that take place within the original world and lore of Magic: The Gathering, while four of these are Universes Beyond. Universes Beyond are collaborative sets with other IP that print iconic characters and locations from other beloved pop culture fandoms. We’ve had Assassin’s Creed, Doctor Who, and Walking Dead crossover cards, and the most recent main set was Spider-Man. Let’s take a look at Magic’s 2026 road map.

Lorwyn Eclipsed

One of Magic’s most popular and iconic Planes, we finally return to Lorwyn and Shadowmoor to kick off 2026. A land of elves, goblins, faeries, and more awaits with familiar characters and mechanics making their return. Fun fact: The original Lorywn block is where the Planeswalker card type originated!

Release Date: January 23, 2026

Unannounced Universes Beyond Set

Wizards of the Coast is tight-lipped on the second expansion of 2026, but promises we’ll get more info soon.

Secrets of Strixhaven

We return to another in-universe Magic world in Secrets of Strixhaven. Taking place on the Plane of Arcavios, the magic academy Strixhaven is once again at the center of an ancient mystery.

Marvel Superheroes

If the recent Spider-Man set is any indication, we’re in for some Marvel Cinematic Universe-level epicness since we saw one of the Infinity Stones. This set will cover the wider Marvel Universe, and promises to showcase some of the comics’ best heroes and villains from throughout their long history.

Release Date: June 2026

The Hobbit

2023’s The Lord of the Rings set was a massive hit, and the Hobbit should be no different. Featuring characters and locations from the iconic fantasy story, fans can expect some amazing new Magic art just like its predecessor.

Release Date: August 2026

Reality Fracture

Reality Fracture is the Magic Multiverse’s next big event set like March of the Machine. We’ll see the newest big baddie in the story get revealed, as well as a peak into where the epic Magic saga goes next.

Release Date: October 2026

Star Trek

To boldly go where no Planeswalker has gone before! Star Trek is the final Universes Beyond crossover of 2026. With the introduction of Spacecraft from Edge of Eternities, we’re sure to see some of the sci-fi’s most iconic ships in card form.
