Mark Evitts Interview at San Diego Comic-Con

Frog and Toad is a children’s animated series on Apple TV based on the books of the same name by Arnold Lobel. Mark Evitts writes and composes the songs and music for the series. Also, Mark Evitts has been a musician since he was twelve years old. He discusses loving entertainment and growing up watching cartoons like The Simpsons. Ever since he was young, this is something he has always wanted to do.

Evitts briefly discusses the process of songwriting for Frog and Toad. Before jumping into the writing itself, Evitts immerses himself in the world. He says:

With Frog and Toad, I read all of the books for Arnold Lobel. When I was asked to be a songwriter for it, I read all the books and kind of immersed myself into that world and just tried to understand: What’s the writing like? What’s the storytelling like? And how can I be a part of that?

For Evitts, this series is a dream project. He talks about how his dream was to work on an episodic animated series for a big studio, like Apple. And it happened. “And the people I got to work with on this project are so professional and they’re so good at what they do. It made it a dream!” Evitts explains. Later, he goes on to say that he would love for these sorts of projects to keep coming his way.
