Marvel, K-Pop fan’s style inspired by ’60s and ’70s fashion

Curstie Marie (@missvintagelady) aptly describes her style as a modern twist on ’60s and ’70s fashion, sometimes mixed with geeky tees and accessories. A “multi-stan” who enjoys Marvel, Star Wars, K-Pop, and more, she draws outfit inspo from fashion ads of the 1960s to ’90s posted on Pinterest. Her current obsession is creating Instagram Reels and self-portraits while listening to her favorite K-Pop songs.

What are your diehard fandoms?

My diehard fandoms, hmm, well, I am definitely a multi-stan. I really enjoy Marvel, Star Wars, K-Pop, DC Comics, and anime.

How would you describe your personal geek style?

My personal geek style really depends on what I am into at the moment and if I am going somewhere. Nowadays, when I am lounging at home or out running errands, I usually wear something casual and comfortable. High-waist jeans or joggers with some kind of fandom tee tied up with some classic high-top Converse and a face mask. Recently, I noticed that my style is more of a modern ‘60s/’70s fashion, so I try to mix it up with some geeky shirts or accessories.

What favorite geek fashion items can be found in your closet?

LOTS and lots of fandom tees! I honestly have too many but I really like dressing them up or wearing them casually. I also love wearing necklaces and rings that are fandom-themed, one of my favorite companies is RockLove Jewelry. Allison designs incredible jewelry and her pieces really elevate a look.

Describe your go-to geeky outfit.

My go-to look is high-waisted wide-leg slacks with a fun fandom tee + some ankle boots or platform heels. I get a lot of my inspiration from ‘60s-’90s fashion ads on Pinterest and from fashion magazines like Elle Korea.

My good friends Nina (@lefancygeek), Catherine (@catherine), Alice (@akangaru), and Allison (@damfino) got me into K-Pop and it has really been a fun and comforting experience. It brought us closer together, and I am really grateful to them.

Where do you find yourself searching or shopping the most for your geek fashion needs?

I like to shop through Etsy. I enjoy thrifting online, it’s easier and helps small businesses. I do buy a lot of my fandom tees from stores such as BoxLunch, Hot Topic, Unique Vintage, WeVerse, and occasionally Target.

Feel free to shout out any personal geeky passions, projects, or business endeavors:

As of right now, I am just having fun creating Instagram reels and taking some self-portraits while listening to my favorite K-Pop songs.
