Marvel Releases First Official Hawkeye Trailer, Poster, and Release Date

Marvel Studios just released the first official trailer for the Hawkeye series, starring Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton/Hawkeye) and Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop/Hawkeye). The series will be streaming on Disney+ on November 24, 2021 just before the Thanksgiving Holiday. Before reading any further, you can watch the official trailer below.

It’s finally here!

Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye series was first announced to a very crowded, yet hyped crowd on the big premiere stage of the famous Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019. Although fans in attendance at the event were not allowed to use their phones or other electronic devices to record what was being shown on screen, it did not stop Hawkeye/Clint Barton actor, Jeremy Renner, from releasing the first teaser announcement of the series from his official Twitter account:

It was at that time that fans got to see not only the announcement of the series soon to be streaming on the Disney Plus service, but also the huge reveal of fan favorite, Kate Bishop (the other Hawkeye).

Even before the official launch of the trailer, both Renner and Steinfeld took to their official social media accounts via Instagram to tease and announce the trailer’s release. Renner simply shared a partial reveal of what appears to be part of the title to the series with a story caption, “Hawkeye Trailer Drops Tomorrow!!!!” while Steinfeld posted a picture of her in costume and on set with the simple caption of a double eye emoji. Both posts can be seen below. This writer used his own mobile device to screenshot Renner’s announcement from his Instagram story prior to its expiration.

Even during this time of a global pandemic, fans were quick on the social media and interweb triggers to release unofficially leaked photos of Renner and new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hailee Steinfeld. Oh, let’s also mention there was a certain furry golden retriever that was also shown in some of those photos. Those leaks can now be put to rest since the official trailer was released.

Straight Out of the Comics

Without having to do a full breakdown of the trailer, it appears to show that the series will be adapting the critically acclaimed AND Eisner award winning run of the comics by writer Matt Fraction, artist David Aja, and colorist, Matt Hollingsworth. There are scenes and characters that will look very familiar to comic fans anticipating the release with the infamous “bro-defining” Tracksuit Mobsters, exploding arrows, a car chase scene involving a Dodge Challenger, and as said before, a golden retriever known as Lucky the Pizza Dog. Hopefully, Lucky will get his own episode like he was the lead character in his own comic issue.

It also looks like fans may come to appreciate the relationship between Bishop and Barton as one of the main focal points of the comic series. Therefore, we can expect some good and even hilarious quips between both Hawkeyes. In addition, fans got a really quick, blink-and-you’ll-miss it-glimpse of another new addition to the MCU, Alaqua Cox, who will be playing a character named Echo/Maya Lopez. In short, she is an Indigenous character who was born deaf and has the ability to mimic fighting skills as well as almost any other demonstrated skill. Her appearance will be very intriguing as her character has connections to other HUGE characters, but we won’t go into speculation here. For now, we can enjoy the launch of this trailer and hopefully some more clips or stills. Maybe we will get another trailer before the premiere date.

Hawkeye Meet Hawkeye

It’s just too easy to even insert the widely used Classic “Spider-Man Pointing at the other Spider-Man” meme here, but this series looks to set itself apart from that. Because much like the comics, there is definitely a difference in each character’s approach. Although they don’t possess superhuman abilities, it will be interesting to see how their respective skill sets will be used during the series. Another thing to consider is that Clint Barton has already had the experience of being an Avenger and has dealt with some traumatic losses in his past. So, it begs to question if his experiences will have any effect on his relationship with Kate Bishop.

Hawkeye Poster!

Along with the announcement of the trailer, Disney also released its first teaser poster of the Hawkeye series, which can be seen below:

The teaser poster seems to go along with the feels and tradition of past holiday film posters and reveals Kate Bishop, Clint Barton, and Lucky the Pizza Dog casually walking under snowfall during Christmas Time in New York City. There is even a clever and cheeky caption saying, “This Holiday Season The Best Gifts Come With a Bow.”

Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye will release on November 24, 2021 and streaming on the Disney+ app. The series stars Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton/Hawkeye), Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop/Hawkeye), Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James, and Alaqua Cox (Echo/Maya Lopez). The series is executive produced by Rhys Thomas (known for Documentary Now! and a producer on Saturday Night Live) and directed by Bert and Bertie (known for Dance Camp and Troop Zero).
