It is time to assemble for the first season of Marvel Rivals! Launching on January 10 at 09:00 UTC with new playable characters from a beloved comic series, new playable maps, special events, and a new game mode.
Marvel Rivals released on December 6, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X/S, with cross-play supported across all platforms. The free-to-play, third-person hero shooter resembles the popular Overwatch game developed by Blizzard and has already garnered over 20 million players since its release. Players fight in a Marvel team showdown of 6v6 with a roster of 33 heroes (and counting). These heroes include Marvel favorites like Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, and Doctor Strange.

The Marvel Multiverse Braces an Eternal Night
“Eternal Night Falls” is split into two sections. The first half will welcome Invisible Woman and Mister Fantastic to the roster of heroes, followed by Human Torch and The Thing in the latter portion. Below are the new characters and their roles:
Invisible Woman (Strategist), Mister Fantastic (Duelist), Human Torch (Duelist), and The Thing (Vanguard)
Season 1 will introduce an exciting new game mode called Doom Match. 8 to 12 players will compete on a single map in this mode. Teams representing a different faction will all be hostile towards one another. Players score points by eliminating their opponents, and upon the end of the match, the top 50% of players will be deemed the winners!
New maps are joining the lineup, including Sanctum Sanctorum and Midtown, which will arrive in the first half of the season, and Central Park, set to come in the second half.
A New Seasonal Event and Battle Pass
The game will drop more seasonal rewards during the season’s event, Midnight Features. Players can engage in seasonal activities to earn limited-time rewards like exclusive galleries, costumes, sprays, units, nameplates, and more! Additionally, starting January 11, Marvel Rivals will roll out exciting new Twitch Drop exclusive rewards. Featuring a Hela: Will of Galacta spray, nameplate, costume, and additional surprises.
A brand new Battle Pass will also be taking over, featuring double the content of the Season 0 pass. The price for the Season 1 Luxury Battle Pass is set at 990 Lattice. Players will receive 600 Lattice and 600 Units back upon completion. The Marvel Rivals team has also designed a unique Battle Pass and Chrono Tokens mechanism. This ensures that Luxury Battle Passes never expire and that Tokens purchased with Lattice are retained under certain conditions.
